Dahna Abourahme
Program Director and Lead Educator
I started off my journey as an educator in video production programs and workshops inside and outside the mainstream educational system in New York and then in Beirut. In late 2019, I founded Horshna after one year of apprenticeship and training to be a Forest School teacher. The journey from audio visual storyteller to oral storytelling with the children in the forest, allows me to continue to dream of creating new possibilities for living together.

I’m an enthusiastic advocate for early childhood development. With a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s in Sociocultural Engineering, I’ve dedicated my career to nurturing young minds across the Arab world. My kids have taught me more about life than any textbook! I designed impactful interventions and developed resources in Arabic. My passion drives me to improve strategies and programs that positively impact children and communities. That’s me – a professional by day, a mom always, and a believer in the magic of the early years.

Lead KG2 Educator
With a background in drama and theater and a great interest in childhood education, I pursued my Masters in Drama in Education in Dublin, where my dissertation research led me to the world of Forest Schools. Back in Beirut, I was introduced to the Reggio Emilia approach which I brought with me to Horshna. I endeavor to teach children to understand their role as human beings to better the world.

Teaching in the forest is a perfectly natural path for an English Literature graduate who grew up in the bushes of the Lebanese South. As I pursue my Waldorf Early Childhood Education certification, I work with Horshna to help nurture curiosity and imagination while building up the children’s literacy skills.
