Mission,
Vision & Values

Mission and Vision

We cultivate a loving and nurturing community where each child can learn, play and develop organically in relationship to themselves, to others and to the land that sustains us.

All the while, we hope to inspire, learn from, and be part of a growing network of forest schools, environmental initiatives, and alternative learning communities in the Arab region.

Values

We strive for environmental and educational justice, and a more humane and sustainable connection to our land.

Interconnectedness

We provide children with daily opportunities to explore their surroundings, develop an empathetic connection with the land, and get to know about their ancestral traditions.

Together, we embrace curiosity, mutual care, and gratitude for the magical connection we share with nature.

Holistic Nurturing

In our safe and loving learning environment, we support the holistic development of each child through sensorial exploration that meets their physical, cognitive, social, and emotional needs.

We trust that children are capable of guiding their own learning and growth through their natural curiosity and wonder.

Respect for All

In a mixed-age community, we create a space for respect, empathy, and care, fostering collaboration instead of competition.

Everyone, child and adult alike, is respected for who they are and how they enrich the community, with full acceptance for each child’s uniqueness and their own pace of development.

Inclusion and Equity

We welcome children, families, and team members regardless of their socio-economic background, religion, race, culture, gender, sexual orientation, and mental and physical abilities.

Our community is deeply committed to social equity and access to quality childcare and education, and we believe that social diversity enriches the learning experience.

Collaboration

We believe that nurturing children is also about nurturing community. Horshna started humbly with 4 families and 1 educator. Over the years, we pooled our resources as a community to create a collaborative learning environment where expertise and responsibilities are shared.

This cultivates a sense of mutual solidarity, cooperation, and adaptability to any circumstances.
